Economic Empowerment

The mission of the Economic Empowerment Ministry is to empower our church members and the East Garfield Park community at large with the tools and skills to build financial stability, independence and wealth. We will provide education on capitalism, finance and economics to empower and encourage the development of small businesses, cooperatives and pursue Pastor Bailey's vision of reentry training and employment for the formerly incarcerated.

Evangelism

Evangelism is spreading the gospel or the good news of Jesus Christ to all who will listen. The Holy Spirit then can change the heart. The good news is that Jesus died for our sins, and He wants all to be saved. If we confess with our mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God has raised Him from the dead, we will be saved. We must let everyone know that Jesus lived, died, rose again, and is presently sitting at the right hand of God the Father being our mediator, advocator and intercessor, and waiting for all to ask Him into his/her heart, making Him Lord and Savior of his/her life.

Lay Organization

Our mission is to carry out the objectives of the A.M.E. Lay Constitution in accordance with our A.M.E. Discipline, and bring it to our local Lay while inspiring, challenging, and educating them on its purpose, direction, and meaning. In addition, we raise money for our Sterling E. Sutton Scholarship Fund which assists those seeking to further their education at institutions of higher learning. This supplemental scholarship is primarily funded from contributions made during our annual Lay Day Service, Walk-Jog-Bike-A-Thon and Young Adult Choir concert events.

Music

Rehearsals are every Tuesday at 7:00 p.m. in the Church sanctuary. The choir ministers through music every Sunday. Our purpose is to sing praises to the glory of God and help usher in the Holy Spirit in preparation of receiving the "Word."

Men's Fellowship

Men’s Fellowship meets every 1st Sunday of the month following the morning worship service.

Prison Outreach

Our ministry is focused on serving those who are incarcerated and those impacted by incarceration. It is our goal to bring these individuals and their families into acceptance of Jesus as their Lord and Savior, and through the Holy Spirit see them restored, delivered, and discipled.

Soup Kitchen

FREE hot meals offered every Wednesday and Thursday from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m.

Women's Fellowship

The Women's Fellowship of St. Stephen seeks to be, and has been, a blessing to women in our congregation who have had a particular need. Women’s Fellowship meets every 2nd Saturday at 9:30 a.m. in the lower level of our church. You are welcome to join us any second Saturday.

Women's Missionary Society

A Missionary Society is a group of women (and men) dedicated to serving humankind, spiritually and naturally. Based on belief in Jesus Christ and a desire to be more like Him, they have accepted the commission He gave to reach those who are lost--the destitute, the downtrodden, the disenfranchised. Serving the needs of humanity is the duty of the Missionary Society. The Women's Missionary Society meet every second Saturday at 11:00 a.m. in the lower level of our church. They sit together as a group on every fifth Sunday. Please feel free to join any Second Saturday at 11:00 a.m.
