Prison Outreach Ministry

Areas of Service:

After Care

This is another new ministry component to POM where we help to provide resources to those recently released from prison. You may or may not know that when ex-offenders are released from prison that they are given only a couple of dollars and released without housing or anything to care for themselves. So, this is where participants in the ministry will be a blessing by preparing packages to give to ex-offenders released from prison that will have necessities such as a bus card, toiletries, etc.

Angel Tree Program

This has been the hallmark of our ministry, and it is held every 2nd Saturday in December. Children of those incarcerated are given Christmas gifts along with learning about Christ at a party held at the church.

CCDOC(City of Chicago Dept. of Corrections)

You have the ability to serve the spiritual needs of those incarcerated at 26th and California by being apart of the Worship service done by POM members.

Community Saturday Forums

This is a new ministry outreach component that we will be conducting soon that will involve forums on a variety of topics relevant to those impacted by incarceration.

Mentoring/Discipleship

Another new ministry that is more of a commitment for those interested in participating. You will be assigned someone to mentor/disciple in Christ that has been released from prison. It is same sex mentoring only, so MEN we really need your participation here.

Prayer Projects

This is a new ministry and we are looking for those who love to pray, are intercessors and prayer warriors to get involve with praying in unity with POM regarding either law enforcement, the legal system, and the courts.

Prison Pen Pals

You have the ability to share the love of Christ and help disciple those incarcerated by writing letters to them.

Street Evangelism

You will have the opportunity to carry out the great commission that Jesus gave to all believers in Matt. 28:18-20, and bring souls to Christ.
